OLC Peer Learning Session: Organic Land Care at Reed College
marzo 18, 2015 @ 1:00 am - 3:00 pm
Join Oregon Tilth on Wednesday, March 18 for a Organic Land Care Peer Learning Session at Reed College in Portland, OR. This free peer-to-peer learning session for landscape professionals is a great opportunity to discover organic land care techniques and participate in discussion led by organic land care practitioner, Shane Kaser.
Shane Kaser, groundskeeper at Reed College, will host this free session focusing on ecology-based, low-tech landscape maintenance. Shane believes landscape «noise» should be used as a source of positive feedback. Storm water, carbon-debris, and weeds are not waste products, but garden resources of the highest order. As a deep-ecologist working within a traditional business management structure, Shane maintains what he refers to as a zen balance of function and aesthetics in the landscape.
Session topics include:
- progressive mulching
- nurse logs
- rain gardens
- appropriate technology
Meet at the west parking lot off SE 28th Ave just north of Woodstock Blvd.
